From the academic year 2002-2003 to the academic year 2008-2009 the department of english language and philology of the university of athens in collaboration with the department of german language and philology of the university of athens organized and operated an interdepartmental master's program in "theory of lexicography and applications" (iii kps, epeaek ii, official gazette 969 b/ 15.7.03).
The scientific subject of the program was the theory of lexicography, its methodology and applications, with an emphasis on bilingual dictionaries. Its purpose was to train executives who will undertake the compilation of dictionaries and encyclopedic guides and who will staff university institutions, educational centers, terminology and documentation services and any other body that needs the use of protected foreign language terminology.
Given the lack of programs in these areas, the contribution of this program was innovative and significant. The program was co-financed by european and greek funds and produced important work. To see the editions in detail, click here. To see the evaluation of the external evaluators, click here.
