The purpose of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory "Linguistics and Grammar Teaching" is to meet the core research and teaching needs of the collaborating Departments, at undergraduate and postgraduate/doctoral level, in the field of Linguistics; to promote linguistic research; and to apply linguistic findings in education. More specifically, it aims to highlight the role of Theoretical Linguistics in the teaching of language as a school subject, both for the mother tongue and for additional/foreign languages, and in the description of Grammar and its teaching in the Greek education system (Primary and Secondary Education), relating additional/foreign languages to the mother tongue. It draws on the findings of the comparative analysis of languages within Theoretical Linguistics and investigates how these can be applied in teaching practice, with the aim of developing students’ linguistic competence and awareness, as well as their critical literacy.
