AFRODITI-MARIA PANAGHIS

Afroditi-Maria Panaghis is Retired Professor of English Literature. She received her B. A. from the University of Cairo and her M. A. and Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate School and Pennsylvania State University respectively. She taught in the Department of English Studies from 1980 until 2014. Her research interests lie in the area of British literature and cover the 16th to mid 20th century, mythology, and psychoanalytic theories. Among her recent publications are Vincent O’Sullivan: A Quest for Divine Union, “The Magic of the Imagination in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Hamlet: A discrepancy between Will and Action,” “Myth and Ritual in Liam O’Flaherty’s ‘Spring Sowing,’” and “The Shadow as a symbol of fear in Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights and Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca.”
