Short Biography
Aikaterini Delikonstantinidou is Assistant Professor in 20th- and 21st-Century Anglophone Theatre in the Department of English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as postgraduate degrees in American Literature and Culture and Adult Education. She completed her PhD at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on the reception of ancient Greek tragic myth in contemporary Latin American and Latinx theatre, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Theatre Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, on the use of myth-inflected digital theatre in adult education.
Her research lies in the field of contemporary Anglophone theatre and performance, with particular emphasis on reception studies, intermedial and digital theatre, the intersections of theatre and digital games, ecocriticism and ecodramaturgy, as well as the pedagogical applications of theatre in formal, non-formal, and lifelong learning contexts. Her recent research explores intersections among theatre, games, postdigital learning, artificial intelligence, and ecological pedagogy.
Her first monograph, Latinx Reception of Greek Tragic Myth: Healing (and) Radical Politics, was published by Peter Lang in 2020. Her second monograph, Staging Play: Theatre, Games, and a Pedagogy of Intermedial Learning, is forthcoming from Intellect in 2027. She has published articles and book chapters in Greek and international scholarly journals and edited volumes and has co-edited special issues and thematic sections of academic journals. In 2024, she co-edited the Critical Stages/Scènes critiques Special Topic ‘Truth’ in the Kafkaesque World of Theatre: Tragic or Comic?, while in 2025 she co-edited Performance, Climate, and Conflict Transformation and The Mythic Life of Culture Wars & Other Essays.

Contemporary Anglophone theatre and performance · reception studies, with particular emphasis on the reception of ancient Greek tragic myth · intermediality and digital theatre · theatre and game studies · applied theatre and performance pedagogy · adult education and multiliteracies · ecocriticism, ecodramaturgy, and ecological pedagogy · digital humanities · postdigital literacy and AI literacy.
Teaching
At the Department of English Language and Literature, she teaches undergraduate courses including Contemporary Anglophone Theatre, William Shakespeare, Post-War English Drama, and Tragic Myth in Intercultural Theatre.
Research Projects and Initiatives
- 2026–present: Representative of the Research Institute of Multilingualism and Language Policy (RIMLP) and member of the international working group preparing the Perform LD research proposal for submission to Horizon Europe 2026–2027, within the framework of collaborations of the European Civil Society Platform for Multilingualism (ECSPM).
- 2019–2021: Postdoctoral research project “Digital Theatre and English Literacy in Adult Education,” Department of Theatre Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).
- 2020–2021: Research Associate for the European research project Intimate Bridges, in collaboration with ARSIS, within the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme.
- 2018: Member of the research team for Migrant Greek Texts: Politics of Flow, Mediation, and Reception, within the Alabama–Greece Collaboration Initiative, funded by the University of Alabama.
