Maria Sidiropoulou is Professor in Translation Studies. She has been involved in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme of the University of Athens "Translation-Translatology" since 2000, and in the "Postgraduate Programme in English Studies" of the Faculty. She was head of the Language and Linguistics Department for the academic years 2004-2006.
She has published in Journal of Pragmatics, Target, Meta, Perspectives, The Translator. Her latest books (Contrastive Linguistic Issues in Theatre and Film Translation, Typothito 2002 - Options in Translation, Sokolis 2003 - Linguistic Identities through Translation, Rodopi 2004 – Choice and Difference in Translation:The Specifics of Transfer (co-Ed), Athens Univ. 2004, Identity and Difference: Translation Shaping Culture (Ed), Peter Lang 2005 – Metafrastikes Optikes (Ed), Parousia 71, 2007) tackle issues of intercultural difference manifested through translation in the press, in advertising, in the E.U. context, on stage and screen, etc.
