MARY KOUTSOUDAKI

Mary Koutsoudaki is Professor of American and Comparative Literature.She received her B.A. in English Literature at the University of Athens and continued her studies on a Fulbright scholarship in the United States (M.A. in Comparative Literature,Purdue University; Ph.D in Comparative Literature, State University of New York at Buffalo).From 1983 to 1985 she taught at the City University of New York, and since 1985 she has joined the Faculty of English Language and Literature, Athens University.She is the author of the books The Dionysiac Myth in Camus and Williams(1987), Thornton Wilder:A Nostalgia for the Antique(1992),The "Greek" Plays of Eugene O'Neill (2004), and several articles, reviews and translations published in Greek and foreign journals, anthologies, and encyclopaedias.She is also the editor of Canadian Identity through Literature(2002) and the Co-ordinator of the Centre of Canadian Studies. As a visiting Professsor she has lectured in Europe, the United States, Africa and Asia. On June 29, 2015 she was honored by Canadian Ambassador Robert W. Peck with the Maple Leaf Citation Award "in recognition of her many contributions to Canada-Greece relations".
