CHRYSSOULA LASCARATOU

Chryssoula Lascaratou is Professor Emerita of Linguistics at the Faculty of English Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She was Head of the Department of Language and Literature in 1996-1997 and 2008-2010 as well as Director of the Faculty Library from 1998 till she retired in 2017. She studied English Language and Literature (BA) at the University of Athens, and Linguistics (MA and Ph.D.) at the University of Reading in the UK. Her areas of specialisation are Morphology, Syntax (Generative Grammar and Systemic Functional Grammar), Corpus Linguistics, Language Typology, Contrastive Linguistics, and Error Analysis. Her research interests include the analysis of aspects of Greek and English grammar, the study of the linguistic manifestation of pain –and emotions in general– within a functional and cognitive framework, as well as the investigation of grammatical phenomena and their implementation in the teaching of Greek as a foreign language to minority Muslim (chiefly Turkish speaking) pupils living in Northern Greece.
