POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The Department of English Language and Literature offers the following MA programmes:

  • MA in Applied Linguistics 
  • MA in The Greek Element in Anglophone Literature
  • MA in Translation Studies
  • MA in Lexicography (offered until 2009)

Requirements for admission (international students):

  • BA (or equivalent) in Language Studies and Linguistics (for MA programmes in Linguistics and Translation Studies) and English Literature (for MA programme in Anglophone Literature and Translation Studies)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English at C2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
  • Proficiency in Greek at B2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
  • Passing mark in the entrance exams (60/100)

Note: Prospective candidates who have been provisionally selected for a scholarship from the Greek state, must meet all entrance requirements. Provisional acceptance is not offered in order for candidates to apply for  grants.

Admission Requirements for international students to the PhD programme in the areas of English Language, Linguistics, literary studies and related areas:

  • BA (or equivalent) in English and related areas in the humanities
  • Certificate of proficiency in English at C2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Greek at B2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe) 
  • PhD proposal
