POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The Faculty of English Language and Literature offers the following postgraduate programmes:

  • MA in Applied Linguistics (NOT AVAILABLE IN 2015)
  • MA in The Greek Element in Anglophone Literature
  • MA in Translation Studies

A Ph.D. Programme is also available.

An M.A. in Lexicography was also offered until 2009.

General requirements for admission of FOREIGN STUDENTS include:

  • Degree in Language Studies and Linguistics (for M.A. programmes 1, 2, and 3) or English Literature (for M.A. programme 4)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English at C2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
  • Proficiency in Greek at B2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
  • Passing mark in the entrance exams (60/100)

Note: Even when foreign students are holders of a provisional scholarship from the Greek state, they must meet all entrance requirements. The programme does not permit provisional acceptance of any student in order for a scholarship to be applied for in advance.

Programme information

  • all M.A. programmes run for two years and commence every other year
  • a call for those interested in applying is posted on the Faculty website
  • the maximum number of students to be accepted for each 2-year programme depends on staff availability

General requirements for admission of FOREIGN STUDENTS include:
Recognised undergraduate degree in the area the applicant is interested in doing research
Certificate of proficiency in English at C2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
Certificate of Proficiency in Greek at B2 level (on the scale of the Council of Europe)
Ph.D. proposal (accepted by the relevant Departmental General Assembly)
Passing mark in the entrance exams (60/100)
